Norlat Shipping was founded in 1986 mainly as the operation arm of
Th. Jacobsen & Co AS
 
Over the years, Norlat Shipping has been operating a fleet varying from 5 to 25 vessels. The fleet is a mix of owned and chartered (time-charter and bare-boat) tonnage.  Today the fleet consist of vessel’s in the range of 9.000 dwt up to 23.000 dwt. The majority of our tonnage is ice-classed and we are therefore able to serve our customers with a year round service.

Our vessels trades on a Worldwide basis, however with special knowledge & understanding of the Russian, Baltic and Mediterarinan markets. 

With more than 15 years close co-operation with Norwegian Shipbrokers Ltd in St. Petersburg, Norlat Shipping has built up a significant experience and know- how on the former Soviet Union, and the ‘’do and dont’s’’ of doing business in this part of the world. Together with Norwegian Shipbrokers we are able to provide tailor made service to any destination within former USSR.

Since the early start we have  specialised on sawlogs and sawn timber, however over the years we have gradually expanded into major types of break bulk cargoes, such as steel, aluminium, fertiliser, grain amongst others.
